Featured Product vol.26 A bench coat too good to keep on the sidelines.

NEWS nanamica

Its long length may bring to mind a military mod coat, but its roots are far more sporty. The design is based on the bench coats worn by athletes in stadiums and on the sidelines. A gently flared A-line silhouette is paired with an oversized hood, creating a piece that can be casually thrown on from the beginning of autumn.

The outer fabric is a nylon taffeta made partly with recycled nylon. Particularly distinctive is MURON® yarn, chemically recycled from discarded fishing nets collected in Japan. Combined with draw textured yarns, it causes the fabric to shrink significantly during dyeing, increasing wind resistance while creating a distinctive surface with subtle variations in light and shadow. The insulation is lightweight, highly insulating PRIMALOFT® Black Insulation. Despite its light feel, it remains dependable as the weather grows colder.

The reverse side is made from recycled polyester taffeta with quilting stitches reminiscent of military wear. The coat can be worn reversibly, revealing a much more rugged character when turned inside out. Details such as the oversized two-piece hood and a drawcord at the waist that allows the silhouette to be adjusted also offer different ways to wear it. The ease of sportswear, the toughness of military wear, and a material born from the sea. It may be a bench coat, but it’s too good to leave on the bench— a piece you’ll want to make your go-to choice in the city, too.
