Featured Product vol.14 An aloha shirt that isn’t too loud — just right.

NEWS nanamica

In spring and summer, you want to bring in a sense of cool not only through function, but also through color and pattern. Perfect for that mood is Nanamica’s aloha shirt, aptly named “NANALOHA.” The artwork was created by London-born graphic artist Will Sweeney. His original, avant-garde artwork is printed via silk screen. While it uses flowers native to Hawaii as motifs, the dark tones give it a calm, refined feel — different from the typical cheerful vibe of an aloha shirt.

For the fabric, a broadcloth made from a rayon, cotton, and silk-nep blend is used. It has a dress-shirt-like sheen, yet none of the materials overpower the others, resulting in an elegant texture. Slip it on and you’ll feel a dry, comfortable wear that stays off the skin and is less likely to feel sticky. Another pleasure is watching the silk nep gradually soften and settle in with repeated wear and washing.

Layer it over a long-sleeve tee for a nicely casual look. Wear it under a jacket and it dresses things down in just the right way. Beyond shirts, the lineup also includes dresses and skirts. It’s a piece that delivers not only freshness, but a solid hit of impact as well.
