It’s getting chilly these days, so when I go out I wear a reversible down coat inside of my coat. The down coat itself can be worn as an outer, and I like how the silhouette can be tightened or loosened with the front snap buttons.

I also like how you get a peek of the check pattern of the coat lining when the wind blows. In the Highland region of Scotland, each clan apparently has their own unique tartan check pattern. The soft lining is nice to the touch and has an original pattern, so it makes me feel proud, like I’m a part of a clan somewhere too.

The name Balmacaan apparently comes from the coat having first been worn at the Balmacaan estate in Scotland in the mid 19th century. The shape is classic, and the GORE-TEX material protects you from rain and wind. It is a favorite standard item of mine.

~ What is 2-layer cotton twill GORE-TEX Fabrics? ~
The fabric of the Balmacaan coat is 2-layer structure GORE-TEX fabrics, which has excellent waterproof and breathable capabilities, doesn’t let water through, and releases moisture to the outside. It is cotton twill with GORE-TEX membrane laminated onto it, and has a supple texture. It looks like a solid color at first glance, but the cotton twill outer material is an original fabric made with the warp in navy color and the weft in dark navy, which creates a deep shade.
